How do I use a proxy for online voting?
Q. I want to outsmart the voting limit. You can only vote once a day per IP address in an online poll. Someone told me to use a proxy. What does that mean? So I tried to use the "proxy list" from hidemyass.com and it doesn't seem to work, I get no connection. Please help!

A. Goto www.kproxy.com. This website allows you to open other website within kproxy.com website itself. Enjoy safe and anonymous browsing. Each time, you login to the website, a different IP Address is generated. Go on. Have fun!

What is affirmative proxy voting?
Q. Not sure if there is such a thing, but our association passed a vote by saying if not turned in by date it will be considered a yes vote. Is that legal?

A. Chances are, it's legal. However, to properly answer your question I would need to know your state of residence.

Corporations Law: requirement of a "quorum" and proxy voting.?
Q. Assuming that a majority is required to effect a proposal, it would seem that a proposal that was submtted to shareholders (who could then vote by proxy) would stand little chance of being approved if a quorum is required when shareholders don't return their proxies. Suppose 50% of eligible shareholders return their proxies and all vote to approve the proposal... does the proposal fail?
Asked by James M - Mon Nov 27 14:03:11 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Unfortunately there is no way to tell based on the information you have provided. The critical additional information required is: - what is the quorum requirement (is it 50% or higher?) - do shareholders voting by proxy count towards the quorum amount? I imagine you were asking this question because you don't know these answers. I would advise you to seek legal assistance, as the quorum requirements can be set through national or state legislation (and you haven't said which country you are from); but then can be modified by the constitution of the specific company.

What is the difference between a proxy vote and a limited proxy?
Q. Our property owners association has a ballot and cover letter. The cover letter calls for a limited proxy to be given to our association president; The ballot it says we are giving our proxy vote to our president. Could there not be a problem in how the proxy vote is used because of the two different words?

A. This is all I could find: Proxy: 1: the agency, function, or office of a deputy who acts as a substitute for another 2: a: authority or power to act for another b: a document giving such authority; specifically : a power of attorney authorizing a specified person to vote corporate stock 3: a person authorized to act for another I guess the president's functions will be limited. Proxy voting and delegated voting are procedures for the delegation to another member of a voting body of that member's power to vote in his absence. Proxy appointments can be used to form a voting bloc that can exercise greater influence in deliberations or negotiations. A person so designated is called a "proxy" and the person designating him is called a "princi [cont.]

Do I have voting rights through my online brokerage?
Q. I hold stocks through an online brokerage. Do I have voting/proxy rights for the companies' who's stock I own, or does the brokerage retain those rights for themselves only?
Asked by Danger - Wed Mar 4 02:22:26 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You are the shareholder. You should have the voting or proxy rights that come with being a share holder. You should contact your broker for the necessary forms. They should have been sent to you after the settlement date of your share trade transaction. The broker or brokerage company merely handles the transaction and pockets a small commission. You are the share holder and possess the rights associated with the shares in your ownership. You should have received a statement identifying how many shares you purchased on what date, and at what price. That proves you are the holder of the shares. The other paperwork should come in the mail soon after.

A. The posters above gave very accurate answers. There is one type of proxy vote almost nobody ever thinks about. That is the Electoral College vote. State are required to choose electors who will place their votes at the electoral college vote on behalf of the state. This is shown in article two of the U S Constitution. You will not see the word proxy there but if you examine the document closely you can see that it is the states rather than the people who elect the president. When the electors vote they are for all practical purposes placing their votes in a presidential election on behalf of their state. A representative of the state placing a states vote for it. That is how it works.

A. By proxy means letting someone else decide for you. By alternate can mean many things like the way you submit you're vote.

How can I cheat voting system on the Internet?
Q. There is a voting system on one of the websites. You are only allowed to vote once every 24 hours. (What it is for is irrelevant) I need to be able to vote much more times then that. Their website records my IP number, and lets me vote only in 24 hours. Tried using proxy, and that doesn't work, their website either won't show the voting section, or will show everything greyed out, as if it still knows who I am. How can I really cheat their web-server into taking me as a different user every time? I can't go to someone else's house. I need to make like 600 votes! There has got to be a way for me to chat this thing!

How do I read the proxy material for the stocks I own?
Q. I get voting material for stocks but never read the proxy books that are included in the mailings. They are made up of endless pages of statistics and I have no idea how to interpret it. Can anyone give me some tips on how to read the proxy
Asked by xg6 - Fri Mar 21 13:32:10 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you don't understand the materials or the question being voted on, you should choose to abstain on your ballot. If you would like to learn in order to make an educated decision, you should read a book on financial statement analysis and/or corporate finance, it will help you better understand the materials in the proxy. I recommend the following books if you are truly interested: "The Interpretation of Financial Statements" by Ben Graham

In a HOA Meeting requiring a quorum, can people proxy themselves to be present at the meeting to meet quorum?
Q. I'm referring to a Home Owners Association that requires a certain number of people to be present to establish a Quorum; Can the proxies that are sent out prior to the meeting have a box to check that says "Limited Powers (check if appropriate) I specifically instruct my proxy to cast my vote for quorum purposes only."
Asked by JUST A GUY LOOKING FOR ANSWERS. - Wed Jan 23 02:30:20 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I doubt it, but you'd have to look at your HOA bylaws to know for sure. Especially when you consider that the purpose of the quorum is to ensure that enough voting members are present to vote on the business at hand, representing the club's interest.. So if you send a proxy, it wouldn't be fulfilling the purpose if it prevented the person from voting for you. There's no such thing as a vote for quorum purposes. Consider this also. Let's say that eighteen people are present at a meeting, and ten of them carry your hypothetical quorum-only proxy. Well, if there are eighteen people present for the quorum, then any vote would require 50%+1, or ten, affirmative votes to pass -- which would be impossible since only eight people would be voting. Will someone in Massachusetts vote for Brown for me by proxy?
Q. Since I don't live there I would really appreciate it if someone who needs a little push to go out and vote when they really weren't going to. I'd be honored to have this vote cast for a man who said, "this Senate seat isn't Ted Kennedy's it's the peoples!" P.S. Ted Kennedy has been sober and hasn't murdered anyone for over five months now!

A. No worry here. I am in Massachusetts and don't know any one voting for Martha. The "entitlement" attitude has not worked for her. She assumed that as a Democrat/hack she would simply be handed Uncle Teddy's senate seat. Surprise! Not everyone in Massachusetts buys it. The Kennedy "legacy" is history. Martha will simply put a period on it. Senator Brown will be a nice change in DC. (Wonder what Kerry is thinking?)

how can i access a site which detects my ip address several times without using a proxy server?
Q. I was planning on suggesting hacking a site. Cause I need to vote more than once but this site restricts me. I don't want to use proxy servers 'cause they won't work on flash content. I don't know what to do with the flash communication server. Please help me.
Asked by Morin - Thu Nov 13 20:53:54 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First of all, you're not hacking anything. Second, a proxy should do the job. (Just make sure you use a proxy that doesn't strip out active content or javascript). This will work as long as the code in the flash file is self-contained. Third, try clearing your cookies. A lot of sites store data in cookies as opposed to logging IP addresses, since several people can use the same public IP at different times (or even at the same time, if you're in a corporate building or using a service such as AOL).

Why cant members of congress vote by email, phone or proxy?
Q. I can understand why the congressional rules were written way back in the day, but times have changed. Shouldn't a member of congress who is on the road campaigning be able to vote from a distance? The votes are a matter of public record, it would be obvious if someone had hacked the voting. So J K you've never had a conference call? hindlegs, it can be as simple as the pol going on TV and saying "I didn't vote that way." It's not a secret ballot like electoral voting.
