Will you support my petition to end women's suffrage?
Q. Women's suffrage policies have their roots in the mid 1800s and early 1900s when sexism against women was much stronger than today. Now, women continue to be paid less than men and another woman dies every 4 seconds. Please show your support for the drive to end women's suffrage. Women should not be made to suffer.

A. irishofficer1964, I hope you realize that the first source you cite actually proves that the KKK wasn't started by democrats (most people usually try to actually read their sources before posting). And your second source can hardly be considered a source at all.

A. During World War One, a lot of women took on jobs that had previously been done by men. Many women of course were already working before World War One, there have always been women who had to work for a living, but during the war they took on jobs that previously been thought of as unsuitable for women. They worked on the railways and the buses and in forestry and farming and were chauffeurs and van and taxi drivers, and in the UK they joined the newly created women's police force. And large numbers served overseas as nurses, ambulance drivers, etc. All this helped to persuade the government of the day that women were competent and deserving of the franchise. And so in the UK, women over 30 got the vote in 1918, German women also got… [cont.]

A. The Magna Carta for sure! Since it is the first document ever to limit the power of a king, it has affected every government since! Some indirectly, some out of fear, but many- including our own- directly in many ways. The French Revolution would not have happened the way it did (citizens rallying and killing to get more voice in the government) without the Magna Carta. Suffrage of any sort- even for women, would not have happened either.

Political cartoon on women's suffrage...?
Q. For a US history assignment, i have an option of doing a poltical cartoon as my assignment. I'm just looking for ideas which are creative and origional. It can't have been done before (shown on Google) and it must reflect the time period of the 1920's when women either just recieved the right to vote, according to the 19th ammendment. OR about the suffage/ struggle it took to gain the right to vote. I was thinking about drawign a picture of Ellis Island or such and having a women wait in line (becuase they were basically not citizens) or possibly a cartoon with suc models as susan b anthony and other womens movement activest playing "tug of war" with the 19th on the other end of the rope. (trying to win over the right to vote) well let… [cont.]

A. You could have some Suffer Jets trying to reasonably fathom how they're going to vote for McCain and Sarah Barracuda who is standing around in her bikini holding her unwed daughter's "illegitimate" child. That's not to say I have a problem with the fact that Palin's becoming a premature granny - it just seems like the most obvious fodder for a political cartoonist who wants to link women's rights to politics and have it relevant for today.
